Transferring five streams of moving pictures presents a substantial challenge to the I/O subsystem, and if everything is on one drive as you describe, it is no wonder it is not keeping up. If you do not have an external SSD, then you are using the Internal SSD for System, Library, Applications, the hidden unix files including Paging/Swap, Caching, Application temporary files, User files, User Preferences, and absolutely everything else. Supporting six sets of moving pictures is not difficult for the display subsystem.
